Monferrato, a Hidden Gem in the Heart of Piedmont
This land welcomes you with gently rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see, dotted with medieval villages and vineyards that produce some of Italy's finest wines. Although major historical events have left their mark on Monferrato, from the Saracens (and the legend of their hidden treasure in Ottiglio) to the handing over of Monferrato to the Savoy Royal Family in 1708, the former Marquisate of Monferrato is still a destination largely undiscovered by tourism. Time seems to have stood still in the sleepy, historic villages perched on the lovely hills of the Monferrato. Monferrato is more than just a destination: it is an invitation to discover the true essence of Piedmont, amidst history, nature, and a warm welcome that will make you feel at home. The Monferrato since 2014 part of UNESCO and home of the white truffle invites you to explore the wonders of this unique land in the world.

As you explore Monferrato, don't miss Casale Monferrato, which has its majestic castle and enchanting alleyways and old-world charm. Take a lunch break in the local trattorias, where you can savour traditional dishes such as bagna cauda or vitello tonnato, paired with famous Monferrato wines such as Barbera and Grignolino.
Next to Ottiglio is Casorzo, which is surrounded by vineyards where the famous Malvasia di Casorzo is produced.
